Men's Soccer Edges Frostburg State

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's soccer team used first-half goals by juniors Tom Noonan and Marcelino Rabara to claim a 2-1 win over visiting Frostburg State in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Blazers (4-5) needed just 1:56 to get on the board as Noonan converted a pass from senior Ben Snyder into a 1-0 lead. The goal was Noonan's team-leading seventh of the season.

Rabara scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 33rd minute when he connected off a headed pass from sophomore David Wilson.

The Bobcats (3-6) pulled to within a goal when Kenny Dotter scored in the 49th minute, but the visitors hurt their chances to pull even with a red card in the 79th minute.

Freshman Shawn Fernholz made five saves to earn the victory in goal for the Blazers. Jay Herford had four stops for the Bobcats.

Hood looks to even its record and collect its first-ever Capital Athletic Conference win Saturday when it travels to Gallaudet University for a noon match.
