Men's Soccer, Swimming Nab In-State Standout
FREDERICK, Md.--A standout student-athlete from Maryland will attend Hood College in the fall and continue his two-sport career as a member of the Blazer men's soccer and swimming programs.
Carlin Rabie, a 6-foot, 170-pounder, from Lackey High School, will compete for the Blazers beginning this fall.
Rabie lettered four years in soccer and swimming at Lackey. He showed his versatility on the soccer field, playing forward, midfield and defense while also seeing limited action as a goalkeeper. He captained the team as a senior.
Additionally, Rabie was part of three league championship teams with the Indian Head Soccer Association U-18 squad. He served as team captain, was the teamýs high scorer and earned team MVP honors.
"We are hoping that Carlin makes an immediate physical presence on our squad," Hood head men's soccer coach Brian Wall said. "We think there are a couple of roles he can fill and with the athleticism he possesses he could be a true diamond in the rough over his collegiate soccer career."
Rabie was also versatile in the pool, swimming the 50- and 100-freestyle events as well as the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. He was the team's MVP three times and served as team captain as a senior. He also helped the Indian Head Torpedoes club team win four division championships.
"Carlin will give the men's team much needed depth, especially in the sprint freestyle events," Blazer head swimming coach Don Feinberg said. "He will also be a welcome addition to our sprint relays."
Rabie enjoyed an equally successful academic career. He was named to the Minds in Motion athlete honor roll all four years, was a member of the Honor Roll and the National Honor Society, earned four academic letters and was awarded Principal Honors as a junior and senior. He was also a member of the Key Club, the Honor Society and 4-H.
