Dummann Promoted to Head Mens Lacrosse Coach

FREDERICK, Md.--Eric Dummann, an assistant men’s lacrosse
coach at Hood College for nearly two years, was promoted Monday and
will take the reigns as head coach of the program for the upcoming
2008 spring season.
An assistant for the Blazers since January 2006, Dummann started
his lacrosse coaching career with the Olney (Md.) Boys & Girls
Club youth leagues before becoming an assistant boys coach at Paul
VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Va. He then moved on to DeMatha
Catholic High School, where he served as an assistant dean and
assistant ice hockey coach.
A staff coach at the Elite 150 Lacrosse Camp at Mount Saint Mary's
University, Dummann also runs a competitive men's league team in
the American Lacrosse League in Bethesda, Md.
He was an all-league selection and team captain as a senior at
Sherwood High School in Maryland and played four years at National
Collegiate Lacrosse League (NCLL) power West Virginia University
where he led the squad to four consecutive top 20 rankings.
Dummann currently works in behavior support with students with
learning and academic disabilities at Watkins Mill High School in
Gaithersburg, and is pursuing his master’s degree in physical
education and athletic administration at McDaniel College. He
earned his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from West Virginia
University in 2002.
Dummann is the fourth head coach in the history of the men’s
lacrosse program, which be came a varsity sport at Hood in the
spring of 2005. He inherits the position from Eric Shultz, who
resigned earlier this month.
