Hood's Shultz Motivates Youth at US Lacrosse Workshop

FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College head men's lacrosse coach Eric Shultz was one of several area coaches who conducted a free clinic for area youth lacrosse players at Hood College March 4.

Shultz joined Mount St. Mary's head women's lacrosse coach Denise Wescott, Courtney Vaughn of Winters Mill High School and Bill Sardella, Chapter President and FSLAX Director of Lacrosse, to put on three Positive Coaching Alliance Workshops for coaches, parents and youth players across the region. Shultz and the other instructors emphasized positive methods for developing young players.

"The workshops in this PCA program are unique and positive, they educate all groups about Double-Goal Coaching, where you strive to win in a positive competitive environment while teaching life lessons to youth players," commented chapter vice president Kim Lenta. Over 85 young players from across the state attended the workshop.

Shultz, as well as the other instructors, are all certified by U.S. Lacrosse in Level 1 coaching. Sardella noted, "It was a breezy and cold day, but lacrosse players will brave the elements to receive excellent coaching, and we are very fortunate to have coaches like Coach Wescott and Coach Shultz to instruct our local boys and girls. It was a great turnout for a great day of lacrosse for western MD youth."
