Junghans Earns CAC Weekly Honor

FREDERICK, Md.--Junior guard Ryan Junghans of the Hood College men's basketball team has been selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 13.
The native of Derwood, Md., and product of Magruder High School averaged 25.0 points per game in three Hood victories last week which kept the Blazers atop the CAC standings. Junghans recorded game-highs in scoring in each of Hood's three contests.
On Monday, Junghans paced the Blazers with 19 points in a lopsided 102-55 Hood win over Penn State University-York. Then Wednesday, Junghans poured in a season-high 36 points, including a school-record nine three-pointers, in a narrow four-point win over Marymount University. He rounded out the week with a solid 20-point performance, including four key free foul shots in the final 23 seconds, to clinch a 70-64 win over Wesley College Saturday.
Junghans currently leads the Blazers and lists third in the CAC with a 20.0 scoring average. A starter in all 15 games, he also leads the team in three-pointers with 44, assists with 30 and free throw percentage at .955.
The Blazers show an 11-4 overall record and lead the CAC with a 5-1 league mark. Winners of three in a row and seven of eight, Hood looks to continue its hot streak at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School Saturday hosting CAC foe Villa Julie College at 8 p.m.
