FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College field hockey team (2-12) dropped a tough 2-1 decision to the visiting St. Vincent College Bearcats (6-9) Saturday on Hood's senior day at Thomas Athletic Field.

Hood and St. Vincent battled strong winds and heavy rains throughout the afternoon. The Bearcats struck first in the 16th minute when Katie Tamagno squibbed one past Hood keeper Jen Lacy. Samantha Larkin added another score less than six minutes later off a feed from Maryellen Baverso. But the Blazers responded with a Brandy Noel tally with less than five minutes remaining in the first half off a pass from Jacquie LeMar. For Noel it was her team-leading sixth goal of the fall.

Hood kept the pressure on the Bearcat defenders, outshooting St. Vincent 17-9, but was unable to net the equalizer in the second half and the Bearcats escaped with the narrow triumph. Megan Vargo made six saves for the victors while Lacy finished with four stops.

Hood bids farewell to three graduating seniors in Lacy, Crystal Parker and Jessica Head who played their final contest in the blue and gray this afternoon.
