Four Blazers Earn Academic Accolades From NFHCA
FREDERICK, Md.--Four members of the Hood College field hockey
team were selected to the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches
Association Division III National Academic Squad.
Junior defender Christa Lundskow, freshman midfielder Lauren
Perzan, sophomore forward Julie Schnitzker and junior forward
Christina Woody all represented Hood on this prestigious team which
recognizes student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field
and in the classroom.
The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate
student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30
through the first semester of the 2006-07 academic year.
Lundskow, a mathematics major from Hughesville, Md., started all 15
games for the Blazers and tallied a goal and an assist. Perzan, a
native of Baltimore who is pursuing a biology degree, also
registered a goal and an assist in 14 games last fall. Schnitzker,
an elementary education major from Baltimore, appeared in 11 games
and attempted three shots on the year. Woody is a psychology major
from Sykesville, Md., who ranked third on the team in scoring. She
scored four goals and assisted on another for nine points, the most
productive of her three seasons in a Blazer uniform.
Hood finished the 2006 season with an overall record of 3-12 and
went 2-2 in the Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference. Next year,
Hood will join the Capital Athletic Conference.
