Field Hockey Snaps Losing Streak with 5-0 Rout of Rosemont
FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Justina Miller and freshman Brandy Noel
each scored twice to help the Hood College field hockey team defeat
the visiting Rosemont College Ramblers, 5-0, Saturday afternoon at
Thomas Athletic Field. The win snaps a nine-game losing skid for
the Blazers, who are now 2-10 overall, while the Ramblers drop to
0-12 on the year.
Noel and Miller scored a goal in each half, and freshman Lauren
Perzan recorded her first collegiate goal as the Blazers registered
a season-high five goals. Sophomore Ashley Saylor and the Hood
defenders did not allow the Ramblers to record a shot on goal as
the Blazers recorded their second shutout of the season.
Noel notched the eventual game-winner at the 9:21 mark of the first
half, and, just over a minute later, Perzan collected her score to
make it 2-0. Then at the 14:53 mark, sophomore Jessica Head fed
Miller for her first assist of the year, and Hood took a 3-0 lead
into the break.
In the second half, Miller scored her team-leading fourth goal of
the year at 41:07, and Noel rounded out the scoring 2:22 later with
her third tally of the year.
Senior Kelly Cione made seven saves for Rosemont in the losing
cause.
Hood returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Goucher College at 4:30
p.m.
