Field Hockey Falls Short Against Randolph-Macon Woman's

FREDERICK, Md.--Rachel Greenleaf scored three goals to lead visiting Randolph-Macon Woman's College to a 4-2 win over Hood College in field hockey action Friday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

Hood (1-6) took a 1-0 lead when freshman Brandy Noel netted her first career goal just under five minutes into the game. Greenleaf scored her first goal of the day just over five minutes later as the teams took their 1-1 deadlock into the break.

The second half was scoreless over the first 20 minutes before the squads combined for four goals in the next three minutes.

Christina Sheeley put the WildCats in front with 15:49 remaining, and Greenleaf made it a 3-1 advantage just 58 seconds later.

Junior Regina Bakely pulled Hood to within a goal with 12:10 to play when she scored off an assist from freshman Lauren Perzan.

However, Greenleaf countered just 29 seconds later to complete the scoring.

Sophomore Ashley Saylor made five saves for Hood, while Laura Stables had four stops for RMWC.

The Blazers return to action Saturday, September 30 when they visit Albright College at 7 p.m.
