Thomson Inks Dual-Sport Standout
FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College head field hockey and women's
lacrosse coach Staci Thomson has landed a standout dual-sport
athlete from Anne Arundel County for the 2006-07 academic year.
Brandy Noel will suit up for the Blazers beginning this fall after
playing four years of field hockey and lacrosse at Old Mill High
School.
The 5-foot-5 midfielder earned numerous honors for her play on the
field. In field hockey, she earned the Coaches Award as a sophomore
and junior, and she took home Most Valuable Player and all-county
honorable mention honors as a senior.
Noel, who was a three-year member of the Honor Roll at Old Mill,
led the lacrosse team in scoring as a sophomore.
Noel also helped her field hockey club team to three county
championships and her lacrosse club team to one county title. She
was named the MVP of both squads in 2002.
"Brandy is a natural two-sport athlete," Thomson said. "On the
field hockey field, she's just as quick with the ball as she is
without it and will bring a lot a depth to our midfield. She's also
a versatile lacrosse player who can contribute anywhere on the
field."
