Blazer Equestrian Concludes Season at Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md.--The Hood College equestrian team competed in the last IHSA show of the season Saturday hosted by Goucher College on the campus of Garrison Forest School in Baltimore.
Seniors Nadine Miglio and Emily Bernstein made their final
appearance in the advanced walk-trot-canter division. Miglio drew a
quiet, responsive mount and rode well in a competitive section
finishing with a second place red ribbon. Bernstein also rode
admirably finishing fourth with a white ribbon.
Katie Geiger, a freshman from Richmond, Va., was the last
competitor in advanced walk-trot-canter. She was assigned a nice
little chestnut horse and won a first place blue ribbon. This was
Geiger’s first blue in a college competition and Hood’s
first blue in two years. Geiger will return next year to this
division with the hopes of pointing out to the novice division.
Hood’s final competitor was Amy Thompson who placed fifth
with a pink ribbon in the walk-trot division. Thompson will return
next season to the walk-trot division with intentions of pointing
up into the beginner walk-trot-canter classes.
Congratulations to the Hood equestrian team for all their hard
work and good spirits during the 2008-2009 season. Hood College
competes in the InterCollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), Zone
4, Region 1, Hunt Seat Section against 13 other collegiate teams.
Eight shows are presently scheduled for the 2009-2010 season.
