Fenwick, Mitchell Named Equestrian Co-Head Coaches
FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College Director of Athletics Gib Romaine recently announced the hirings of Karen Fenwick and Lisa Mitchell as co-head coaches of the Blazer club equestrian program.
Fenwick has been teaching riding for over 30 years. In 1973, after completing two years in the Peace Corp, Fenwick began teaching riding at North Fork School of Equitation. From 1977 to 1992, she also instructed the on-campus riding program at Hood College.
Fenwick hunted regularly with Loudoun Hunt from 1973 to 1988, participated in pairs races and did local eventing. She is a University of Delaware graduate and has been co-owner of North Fork School of Equitation since 1985.
Mitchell has taught riding at private barns and at summer camps and has done local eventing. She holds an Allied Field in Horsemanship from Alderson-Broaddus College.
Mitchell, a professional librarian at Hood, continues to ride and enjoys doing both hunter and dressage clinics with her Thoroughbred gelding.
