Esposito and Luscombe receive MAC Commonwealth honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Hood College's Cam Esposito and Nate Luscombe were recognized by as the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Baseball Players of the Week for their achievements in a 4-1 week for the Blazers. 

Esposito, the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week, was key in the conference-opening series win over Messiah by driving in a game-winning run and scoring a game-winning run. In a 2-1 series win over Messiah, Esposito went 6-for-11 with a walk, double, two RBIs and three runs scored. In the series opener, Esposito went 2-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run in a 1-0 victory. In game three, the senior went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, an RBI and scored the winning run in walk-off fashion for a 5-4 win. Esposito finished the week hitting .550 (11-for-20), slugging .700 with a double, triple, three walks, five RBIs, six RBIs and three stolen bases. He opened the week going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a triple in a win over Northwestern (Minn.), and 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored in a win over Western Connecticut State.

Named the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week, Luscombe pitched a five-hit complete-game shutout in the conference opener against Messiah for a 1-0 victory. Luscombe went the distance (7 innings) allowing just five hits, no runs, walked one batter and struck out 10. The junior did not allow an extra-base hit in the game for his third win of the season and second complete game of the season.
