Among the amenities included in this facility are:
- NCAA regulation-sized court for basketball and volleyball contests
- Seating capacity of 1600
- Two-level fitness center and cardio room
- Offices for athletic department staff
- Athletic Hall of Fame recognition display
- Full-service athletic training room
- Four locker rooms
- Meeting rooms
- Concession area
- Approximately 60 additional parking spaces
A local design-build firm was chosen to design and construct the athletic facility. Warner Construction was selected by the college’s planning committee, co-chaired by Hood President Ronald J. Volpe; Charles Mann, vice president for finance and treasurer; and Gib Romaine, director of athletics.
"Hood College is delighted to partner with Warner Construction in designing the new gymnasium and fitness center," said Volpe. "This facility, when completed, will become a signature building not only on the Hood campus but for the entire city of Frederick. It’s so fitting that a local firm play a major role in this project."
Warner Construction is a division of R.W. Warner Inc., and has been operating as a licensed general contractor/construction manager since 1993. However, R.W. Warner, which was incorporated in 1966, has been based in Frederick since 1937.
Since 1993, Warner Construction has steadily achieved success and growth and boasts a reputation for delivering projects consistently on or ahead of schedule, within budget and at a very high level of quality.
